Ibiza rains

The apocalyptic rains have returned to Ibiza..the evening had felt sticky like there might be rain, and in the middle of the night it started for real!

We woke up to lots of people, who live in tents, huddled under the shelter of the bar having a comforting beer or brandy as rivers began to ran through the site.

We breathed a sigh of relief at having a day off (good excuse not to be whizzing around doing a million things RAIN!), and are watching the rains and listening to the thunder from our cosy home. Once again we are thrilled to be living in Honey Bunch!

In these rainy conditions we are sharing our home with a family of ants, being community minded we have not launched a massive attack on them, they are just hanging out with us we think..

Now, as long as we don't have to get of the van to pee, we will be dry!!!

Portraits

We got a great commission to do a portfolio for a child model.

She was great to work with, and here is one of the final images.. 

We hope she remembers us when she is rich and famous, and we are old and poor (but happy!) artists!

Other than that we have been working away making THINGS! There has been more sewing on the back of the bus (and lots of people on site needing trousers to repaired), and Cat has got a new range of recycled leather earrings – gorgeous!

Yesterday we recorded the lyrics for the LYRICAL MYRICALZ 3^rd Hip Hop sensation 'Ibiza Island Siesta', filming will start soon!!!

Caja de cambio es no bueno..

But all is well!

Though we have missed a big market (we tried driving out late at night, couldn't get into 1^st or 2^nd gear..had to be pushed, yes PUSHED back into our spot), all is good!

Couldn't be in a better spot to be broken down in!

Everyone here is super kind, we have a mechanic coming to us on Monday, he has most amount of Mercedes parts on the whole island, and is English speaking so that's a WIN!

At lunch we joined in with a fiesta on the site, and got invited to show our hip hop videos..(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lWkEZJN52zI) to roaring success!

In the early evening we joined in with our friend leading beautiful Mantras on the Beach

Had a business meeting in town, then bck at site hopped in a nice blokes car and went to 'Samsara', where a wicked Argentinian all Girl band rocked it out on Bass guitar, Bongos and drums and brilliant voices (reminded us of ESG).

Met a Argentinian/Ibiza chica who lives on a boat, on land, at the back of her dad's EVERYTHING shop, and some rather charming (though exhausted) BBC camera men and invited ourselves along on their projects..

Speaking of projects, due to the EPIC thunder/rain storm in the wee hours of today (rivers were running through the site and Jana slept with a bucket in her bed), the whole campsite decided it was time for the making of the Lyrical Myricals Hip Hop video number 3..'IBIZA ISLAND SIESTA'

Caravan productions by Uri were opened, Lyrics were busted out, behinmd the scenes filming was shot, and with the help of the brilliant Eef and Mira the chorus also recorded. 

 

The Flamenco guitarists (!!!!!) are primed and ready..filming will begin soon!!!

Ibiza Week 1!

Ibiza!!!

It's 1 week tomorrow that we arrived in Ibiza, very dusty, totally exhausted, smiling away and calling everyone Dave...

First things first...washing EPIC amounts of clothes, back drops, cables, lighting and eyebrows that had made appearances at NOWHERE. Seems we reached into the very depths of the bus to find fabulous things, dust in EVERY nook n cranky..grrrr

So far we have stayed for this first week on a wicked campsite in Cala Nova for free as we photographed their party to celebrate their new patio.. good excuse if you ask us!

Jana also got her first commission on the Island..a cape for a 6 year old so he could live out his super hero dreams, and use his super power.. being a FROG!

Sewing on the back of the van has commenced!

Cat has been busting out amazing feather earrings and both are ready to sell at beaches (looking forward to exploring the Island more!) and 3 markets over the weekend selling bikini's, earrings, skirts, holster & hip bags..all made on the move in the gorgeous bus Honey Bunch!

So it's all go... Spanish style.. everything is 'mañana' and with siestas and long lunches thrown in... muy tranquilo!!!

The Wanderlusting Artisans (Us!) are travelling artists, who live and work full time on the road in our amazing bus Honey Bunch - just filling you in in case we didn't blabber this into your ear at some point during the eyebrow wiggling and the dance off's!

Nowhere festival – DAVE!!!

We will be putting the photos up on our flickr page as soon as we land in Ibiza..we need a bit of recovery time first in our Fav hotel whilst we de dust our bus HONEY BUNCH.

Soon to be on the road again!

So after a long 4 day drive,

radiator panic,

actual gear box major panic and fail,

rescue by a toothless bloke,

5K drive at 15k an hour

Camping in a hotel ('why do those girls always carry pots of food around, and keep bringing more and more STUFF into the hotel??')

Visiting an outside pool and being given food and beer as no English people have ever been near it..

We are finally going to be on the road again!!!!!!

A small part is required for Honey Bunch, it's been ordered and should be with the Mecanico (all of whom are rather dashing I might add!) mid day Manana..so, assuming all being well, and this we do assume, we will be buying supplies and back on the road to Nowhere Pronto!

Hurrah, the next post will be post Nowhere festival, probably covered in dust, definitely lots of fun had and some good stories to share,

In spain!

so.. i am on the computer.. as we broke  DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

gear box suddenly went.. boo.. and turns out our recovery service doesnt cover us after 90 days.. who knew.. basically we wereold it by a right silly plonker working for a company of a company.. whatever. so all up shits creak until guy i speak to on the phone takes total pity on me and my crap spainish and my final phrase 'this is shit'..and sends a tow truck for us (couldnt tow us due to our long bum.. so we drove 5 k very slowly behind him in an unknown gear). 2 hours later we are safe at the mechanics, he and i can converse, he like motor bikes, i love PULPO, and he has lots of cold water, DONE! we are parked safe n sound, and checked into cheapo hotel for 1 night to have showers (been 5 days since our bodies saw water..and twas hot drive!...yummy!). so we are all SAFE. might just be gear selector which is not big job.. find out Monday.
on plus side we are early for festival so might still make it to work it, there is a local marche on tomorrow  morning right next to HONEY BUNCH (middle of a food industrial estate/mechanics), and there is a pool near by, we have internet, and the restaruant (in middle of said industrail estate) does great sunday lunch by all accounts. we will be fine. safe, soon to be clean, and with HB about to be fixed.. phew! (oh and we had JUST picked up cats sister hannah 7 hours late - she is 20, travelling around spain..super excited about a festival.. last night we were in a trucker car park..today we broke down..she is actually maintaining a cheerful outlook!)
